Working Principle of an Isolation Transformer

 

An Isolation transformer is a transformer, often with stabilized windings, which is used to decouple between two circuits. Isolation Transformer allows ACsignal(Incoming Power Supply) or electric power can be taken from one device and deliver to the another device without electrically connecting the two circuits. It allows AC signals to pass electric power and block transmission from DC signals from one circuit to the other. They also block resistance caused by ground loops. This transformer with electrostatic shields is used to supply power for sensitive devices such as computers or laboratory equipment etc.

Isolation Transformer doesn’t have a direct electrical connection from the input voltage to the out voltage. Although with any transformer with a separate primary & secondary stabilized windings can be called as “ISOLATION TRANSFORMER”This can be used to reduce electric shock hazard and produces equal I/O voltage and this is reason transformer strictly used for safety isolation, noise reduction, reduces surges etc.
