GM Electrical Systems are currently supplying a series of 1:1(Step Down or Step Up) ratio isolation transformers for a major rail electrification project in the India. Single Phase Transformer and Three Phase Transformer are being supplied in ratings from 25 kVA to 90 kVA. The main purpose of using transformer is to separate traction which is supplied from the mains network. These isolation transformers are installed in outdoor locations depends on IP55 enclosures and these are fabricated from stainless steel with a painted finishing.
Most of the isolation transformers are using in railway sectors, there is a regulator need for transformers to meet specific power & installation requirements. which means a non-standard transformer assemblies have to produce on a daily basis. Due to the cost & time to carry out complete solutions of type tests, widely accepted international compliance with standards can be established by extrapolating from the results and type tests carried out on similar products. For long term commitment, high profile projects requiring large quantities of isolation transformers, specific type testing can be undertaken. However, this does extend time scales, increases cost, which should be factored in from the start of the project.
